CO-ORDINATED ACTION FOR AUTOMATIC PAY PROGRESSION IN ALL REDBRIDGE SCHOOLS
Redbridge NEU last week supported the above motion to support paid strike action across schools where automatic pay progression for teachers is not restored. Changes have been made to the STPCD for 2024-25 that mean schools are no longer required to operate performance-related pay. Unfortunately, heads still have discretion over whether to apply the changes. We hope that most will, as this is supported by the head teachers unions. Where they do not, and where annual pay progression is not applied to the UPS spine, members should meet and ballot for action.
UPS THRESHOLD DENIED? GET UNION SUPPORT
Redbridge NEU wants to see the process of UPS application simplified, and an end to the unreasonable denial of UPS pay. All members who are denied progression are urged to enter an appeal and contact redbridgebranch@neu.org.uk to be allocated a caseworker.
SUPPORT STAFF PAY
Support staff are to receive a pay award of £1290 across all points on the pay scale. Although NEU Support staff rejected the offer by 92%, the three main local government unions have now accepted after consulting their members. The NEU will continue to call for joint action with other unions to address the chronic low pay of our support staff members.
